www.floridiots.us
Another site with the same subject.
http://www.floridiots.us/
Why is it that every single day there’s national news about Florida? Face it, it’s a fact of life. Whether we’re losing elections for the democrats, engaged in a political scandal, chasing down a abducted kid or just waiting for some woman in a hospice to pass away it’s national news. This site was started to identify just how much national news actually is about Florida, and of course laugh at the residents of my home state.

Sock'em Seminoles
Alachua County Justice
This is the stuff made for TV movies are written about.
A strip club owner, Jerry Sullivan, tries to open an adult toy store in the crappy little town of Waldo, FL. A group of people protest the opening and the owner responds with a truck load of women in bikinis.
The reason for this sign: Thomas Magyari, in opposition to the toy store, pumps unknown chemicals into the building and the local authorities don't immediately respond to the case. Suddenly, the owner dies at age 47 but the attorneys and business associates are continuing his fight for adult toys.
....For some reason the movie Road House (1989) comes to mind.
A must read, if you have the time.

Suspension....twice!
I have lived in many states and many interactions with the local DMV. Only in Florida have I had my driver’s license suspended...not once but twice!
The first time was a confirmation of insurance while the trained and skilled state employee transposed two numbers. Clearly that would have returned no coverage and I was notified that my driver’s license was suspended. No confirmation of the number and no check on the name with the insurance agency. Just suspended…Thanks!
This time it was a payment for a traffic violation. After the check was cashed I received a notice that a suspension was issues in error. Strange? Anyway, two weeks pass and I receive a notice that my driver’s license was suspended…again. The state of Florida has some excellent systems in place where a payment was made, received, cashed, issue in error letter sent, and then a suspension letter.
I have never had my license suspended in any other state yet twice in FL. Thanks FL DMV.

Florida is for academics
Something I have found unique to FL is the Chinese Food, specifically "New York Style". What does that mean? It's that same food you get anywhere else in the states.
Someone took the time to write out, design, and make two lovely neon signs. The writer could have spelled "New York Styel" yet the neon sign maker made these two signs and the owner gave the green light to post them.
Brilliant!

Tragic ... 'Freak Accident' At ATM
ORANGE PARK, Fla. -- A 63-year-old man was killed while using an ATM at the corner of Blanding Boulevard and Wells Road early Thursday morning. Clay County deputies called Willard Dalhite's death a freak accident.
Dalhite's body was found pinned in the partially open door of his pickup truck, which was wedged against the ATM unit in the Bank of America drive-through lane.
Investigators believe Dalhite had finished his transaction and may have dropped his receipt, then became trapped when he tried to pick it up, took his foot off the brake and the truck moved forward. Deputies said Dalhite may have suffocated or suffered a heart attack while trapped.
"Anytime you take your attention away from moving forward or backward, I strongly suggest anyone put their vehicle in park," Clay CountySgt. Chris Dangerfield said. "If you don't, instances like this could happen ... you could run over a pedestrian or anything."
Authorities told Channel 4's Dan Leveton that Dalhite had some medical problems and used a walker. He may not have had the physical strength to free himself.

Driving Florida Style
Florida drivers are the worst I have ever seen. It’s not uncommon for people to come to a dead stop on the on-ramp to a major highway.
Often in FL you’ll see skid marks on the road that end up trailing off the side. This isn’t uncommon in the rest of the union however in FL almost all roads are straight and flat. That begs the question…how does someone lose control of a car on a straight flat road?
I have been lucky enough to see this event…twice, and each time I am amazed. Once looking in my rear view mirror the driver (for no apparent reason) veers left, right, left, and off into the highway barrier. Just recently a car in front of me (for some unknown reason) turns into the grassy median and starts doing 360s.
Florida drivers are awful....Aparently, Rhode Island has the worst drivers.
